The Happy Medium #1: Love Is Powerful

"What we learned as children, that one plus one equals two, we know to be false. One plus one equals one. We even have a word for when you plus another equals one. That word… is love." - From the T.V. series "Life".

I've been watching episodes from this T.V. series on Hulu for the past couple days. I've watched it in the past, and recently I began to miss it's wonderfully Zen sayings and unique story and cast. It actually took me awhile of searching through all the similar shows on Hulu to finally come across one of the episodes, and all I can say (without spoiling any of it) is that I highly recommend it.

Also recently, I've focused a lot on faith and on life. No, I didn't just wake up one morning and think, "What in the world do I believe in!?" It actually came about when I came across a couple old friends contact information on my computer.

You see, about a year ago I went to Emanuel Baptist Church, and made a couple amazing friends. One of which was Rachael. Carys, my best friend at the time, had told me about her, and I was excited to meet her on a missions trip the church was taking. I still remember how it all when down:

"So you're Rachael?"
"Yup!"
"Cool."

Sly, I know. In my defense, I was as shy as a geek entering into a game of dodge ball (another story you guys should remind me to tell).

Anyways, as the weeks went by, I grew apart from everyone at EBC, and then I just never returned. Until about a week ago, when I had my phone reset and needed to find as many contacts as I could off of my computer. I found one file in particular, with the file name "Dearest Contacts", that had Carys, Rachael, Jamie, Alice, and Maggie. I had saved it around the time I took Jamie to EBC (yet another story you guys should remind me). I decided to get back in touch with Rachael, and as we've worked on our friendship, we've also worked on my faith. All I can say is... I'm excited! =]

The moral of my random, and somehow off topic story, is that what has ultimately brought me back to EBC and working again on my faith is Rachael. If she wasn't a strong believer, if she hadn't accepted me as a good friend, if she hadn't pushed me to be a better person, I wouldn't have any faith right now.

Love can change someone's life for the better, forever. It pushes people to be the best that they can. It motivates people to make some of the craziest risks. It makes silence into a good memory.

Love is powerful.
